Research interests: Augustan poetry (Ovid); gender and sexuality in antiquity; literary criticism and modern theory; Senecan drama; Medieval Latin (reception of Phaedrus in the Middle Ages). 

Having completed both her BA in Classics (2014) and MA in Philology and Literary Criticism (2016) at the University of Trento (Italy), Simona decided to continue her studies in the UK, at Durham University, where she started her PhD in September 2017. Her doctoral research is funded by the AHRC Northern Bridge Doctoral Studentship and focuses on Motherhood in Ovid's Heroides, which she tries to investigate through a theoretical approach informed by gender studies. During her degrees, Simona also spent a period in Germany (University of Freiburg) as an Erasmus student and another in the US at Columbia University (New York).
