PK Agarwalla received an AB in Classics from Harvard College, summa cum laude, in 2004, followed by a Masters in Greek and Latin from the University of Oxford, with scholarship support from the Classics Department at Harvard. He completed his MD at Harvard Medical School and graduated from the Neurosurgery Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 2017. He is currently a Fellow in complex cranial neurosurgery at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital.

"Without Harvard Classics, I would not be where I am today. Undergraduate Classics at Harvard is a rigorous course of study that involves the detail-oriented learning of a language, in addition to critical thinking in a variety of fields, including literature, history, philosophy, art, sociology, and government. Every day in neurosurgery, I use the skills I developed from my training in the Classics: thinking critically about my surgeries and patients; communicating and writing effectively; synthesizing data in scientific research; and simply working hard. (Of course, it does not hurt that most medical terms are derived from ancient Greek and Latin!) Concentrating in the Classics truly sets one apart, and I hope you consider concentrating in such a stimulating and challenging field."
