Job Opening for a Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Ancient History

The Department of the Classics is pleased to announce an opening for a Tenure-Track (Assistant or Associate) Professor in Ancient History. View the full job announcement.

Applications are invited from candidates specializing in any aspect of the ancient Mediterranean world from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2022.

The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and will be expected to participate fully in the activities of the Department of the Classics, the Ancient Studies program, and Harvard’s broader community of scholars of the ancient world. An inclusive vision for the study of the ancient world, promise of scholarly excellence, and a strong commitment to teaching are desired.

We particularly encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups, including women and minorities. Applicants must have received a doctorate in Ancient History or a related discipline by the time the appointment begins. To apply, please see the detailed posting.
