Professor Jan Ziolkowski has been awarded the Österreichische Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst I. Klasse ( (Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, First Class) by the Austrian Vizekanzler and Bundesminister, Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, and the President of the Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung, Pascale Ehrenfreund. In receiving this very considerable distinction, ProfessorZiolkowski follows in the footsteps of Ernst Badian, who received the same award in 1999.
